The Top 10 Most Desired Halloween Candy Instacart claims that
Many homes are stockpiling candy for trick-or-treaters—and possibly for themselves—as Halloween approaches. Based on its analysis of purchase trends, Instacart has determined which Halloween candies are the most popular nationwide.
Instacart introduced a new feature that lets users check their area’s “Scare Score,” which gauges the level of local Halloween spirit based on purchases of candy, costumes, and décor, by entering their ZIP code. This function aims to better engage shoppers. Their research indicates that Lehi, Utah, has the most Halloween spirit, with Dallas, Texas, and Houston, Texas, following closely behind.
Which sweets are the most popular on shopping lists, then? The following list of the top 10 Halloween candy by total weight sold was compiled using statistics from the month before Halloween of previous year:
Peanut Butter Cups from Reese’s
M&Ms with peanuts Regular M&M’s Tootsie Pops
twizzlers
Cocoa Hershey’s Milk
Kids from Sour Patch
Sweet Corn
Kit Kat
Star-shaped
Laurentia Romaniuk, a trends expert at Instacart, stated, “There are some exciting shifts when comparing this year’s top 10 list to last year’s.” “Sour Patch Kids, Candy Corn, and Tootsie Pops are our three newest additions. This combination features a tasty fusion of classic favorites from the past with new sensations.”
Regional differences in candy preferences are also notable. According to Instacart’s data, Utah leads the Western United States in having a fondness for Peanut M&Ms. On the other hand, Ferrero Rocher Hazelnut Chocolates are more popular in Texas.
While Twizzlers are more common in states like Illinois and New York, Red Vines are the snack of choice for customers in California. Georgians like Trolli Gummi Candy, while Floridians choose Dum Dum lollipops. Oddly enough, Snickers is still a favorite in Washington, D.C. even though it didn’t crack the top 10.
While Tootsie Rolls are preferred in Oklahoma, Tootsie Pops made a stir in three states. Hawaii consumers, however, are purchasing a great deal of Hi-Chews.
Utah leads the pack in terms of candy purchases per customer, followed by Montana, Alaska, Idaho, and Wyoming. However, according to Instacart, consumers in Hawaii, Washington, D.C., Maine, Florida, and Alabama have purchased the least candy.
There appears to be an abundance of sugary candies to please every type of trick-or-treater as Halloween draws near!
