It’s never too late to pursue your ambitions, as demonstrated by Donna Maddox, who at the age of 94 experienced the ride of a lifetime when she raced around the Michigan International Speedway in a Ferrari and reached speeds of 150 miles per hour.
She once drove her Lincoln to 115 mph since she was a real daredevil at heart.
She laughed, “My mother used to say I came into this world running,” as she considered her path.
“Live if you are alive.” She has lived by this motto since the beginning.
Throughout her life, Donna’s spirit of adventure has remained constant, and she is constantly searching for her next adrenaline rush. In her earlier years, she always lived life to the fullest, exploring caverns and climbing the Smoky Mountains.
She had always wanted to race at her home state’s speedway, whether in a Ferrari or a Bugatti, and the chance shown that age is not a barrier to following your passion.
A program at her retirement community, Waltonwood Twelve Oaks, in Novi, outside of Detroit, made the journey feasible. Their Adventure Program helps participants realize their aspirations and encourages them to do so.
According to a spokesman, “Donna is also such a joy to talk to and is truly passionate about encouraging others to chase their dreams, as well.”
