After a Decade Apart Until a touching reunion occurred more than ten years after Whiskas disappeared, Linda Ellerton’s hopes of finding her missing cat seemed like a far-off dream. The 16-year-old cat was found not far from her former residence at Chilton Moor, near Durham, UK.
After Whiskas was discovered by a neighbor living in his shed, she was taken to the veterinarian, where an old RSPCA microchip identified her. After being saved as a stray kitten and adopted by Linda in 2007, Whiskas vanished in 2013. Linda and her family had moved, thinking their pet was lost for good, after giving up on life.
When Linda viewed the RSPCA’s web appeal, she was astounded. “After all these years, I thought it couldn’t possibly be Whiskas,” the woman remarked. “We never expected to see her again, but the photos looked like her.” It had been a long time.
Inspector David Dawson of the RSPCA described the touching reunion moment, saying, “It was heartwarming to see Linda and Whiskas together again.” The reconnection had a powerful emotional impact.
After living as a stray for ten years, Whiskas is now getting better from a kidney infection and adjusting into her new home with David, Linda’s brother. “She’s sixteen now, and living with me with my dog would be difficult for her,” David remarked. “But if it means keeping her in the family, I’m more than happy to do so.
