A father courageously gave his kidney to save the life of an 11-year-old girl who reminded him of his own deceased daughter.
Andy Emmott claims that when he learnt that young Amber was in critical need of a kidney to save her life, he gave himself up “without hesitation.”
The story is heartbreaking. Despite his ceaseless efforts to find a donor, Emmott’s daughter Sarah passed away at the age of eight from kidney illness.
She spent a large portion of her early years at Leeds General Infirmary and Martin House Hospice, where she battled congenital nephrotic syndrome and other complicated health issues since birth.
Sarah eventually secured a kidney transplant after a valiant battle and a massive campaign supported by England National Football star Kalvin Phillips and the Leeds United football club.
Sadly, though, she died precisely 364 days after getting the organ.
The 55-year-old Emmott stated, “I gave a kidney because a good stranger gave one to my daughter.” “After seeing Amber’s appeal and realising how much Amber and Sarah resembled one another, I felt compelled to apply, and fortunately, I was a perfect fit.”

The Yorkshire native is doing well and has recently gone back to work at Northern Powergrid, albeit he will only be doing office work until he is fully recovered.
“I am scared stiff to donate blood, so to donate a kidney is amazing,” said Andy’s manager, Amanda White, who expressed her gratitude and pride in him.
“As a team, we are incredibly proud of Andy, and we hope that he and Amber recover completely and quickly.”

Andy has put in a lot of effort to gather money for Theodora Children’s Charity since Sarah was diagnosed.
Sarah received assistance from Theodora Children’s Charity throughout her multiple stints in Leeds General Infirmary’s children’s ward. They were a terrific diversion and gave her a lot of happiness and laughter,” Emmott remarked.
