Guitar Centre is contributing by offering to repair damaged musical instruments, while businesses, celebrities, and organised sports have been scrambling to try and restore Los Angeles County following the latest round of wildfires.

It’s notoriously difficult to make a living as a musician, so you can only imagine what would happen to someone who lost a $6,000 piano or a $2,000 guitar in the most recent fire.

The instrument provider is extending an invitation to working musicians to apply for a unique one-time grant through the Guitar Centre Music Foundation to replace up to $1,500 worth of instruments and equipment damaged in the fires.

No money is given out, and before a replacement can be provided, applications will need details about the type of equipment that was lost and its approximate value.

Candidates have to be from the Los Angeles region. Institutions and music programs are also encouraged to apply.

NME requires that applying institutions offer “music therapy programs in which the participants actively make music, community music programs that offer music instruction to the community, after-school music programs that are not run by the school, or in-school music classes in which the students make music.”
