The Most Lucrative Day in History for Any Junkyard

RM Sotheby’s is selling off this genuinely remarkable and well-worn collection after decades of amassing unfortunate specimens of some of the world’s rarest automobiles.

You wouldn’t normally expect to find nearly priceless pieces of automotive history in a junkyard, but Rudi Klein’s waste yard resembles a post-apocalyptic Pebble Beach Concours. Numerous vintage Porsches in varying states of disrepair are scattered throughout the lot. For the Ferrari enthusiasts, there are also two rusty Ferrari 330 GTCs, a 365 2+2, and a 275 GTS. A rare Iso Grifo Spyder and three deteriorating Lamborghini Miura P400s are among the other Italian options.

Although they will require a lot of maintenance, nearly all of these devices may be the best in someone’s garage. Since this was a junkyard, it makes sense that the majority of the automobiles are in really bad shape.

However, several rare Mercedes-Benz vehicles are the collection’s true highlights. Among the beautiful (but mainly deteriorated) cars, this exceptional collection also includes a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Alloy Gullwing (estimated at $5 million) and an almost complete 1957 300 SL Roadster (estimated at $1 million).

A preview of the Rudi Klein Collection will be available the day before it is put up for auction by R M Sotheby’s. At any particular junkyard, it will probably be the most profitable day ever.
