A nonprofit organisation made a unique holiday delivery by saving the stray cat that captured the heart of a deployed US airwoman, fulfilling her Christmas desire.
While serving in the Middle East, US Air Force Technical Sergeant Tracy discovered a kitten on her installation and gave it the name Walter.
Although the orange tabby provided solace to the woman while she was far from home, she couldn’t bear to part from him as her deployment came to a conclusion because she knew he was at risk of malnutrition or euthanasia.
She therefore sought assistance from the Paws of War, a veteran-led organisation based in New York. They concentrate on going into nations where US troops are stationed and saving any animals with whom they may have developed a bond.
Due to the need for plane tickets, several medical treatments, and paperwork filings with both domestic and foreign agencies, the cost of doing these extractions can reach $10,000, according to the CBS News station in New York.
However, after initially arriving in New York, Dereck Cartwright, a US Army veteran and Paws of War volunteer, drove the orange tabby all the way to New Hampshire to be reunited with Sgt. Tracey’s husband in time for Christmas.
