The Fernandina Beach Fire Department arrived quickly to the site of a bicycle accident on December 18th, when a young guy was caught beneath his bike wheel.
The child, KJ, was locked between the wheel’s spokes and had to have his foot cut free before the firefighters could remove him, damaging the bike in the process.
After KJ was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, which included a terrible ankle sprain, the firefighters felt compelled to do something to lift the boy’s spirits because it was the holidays.
When they arrived at the hospital, they gave him a brand-new bike and helmet as a surprise.
They posted a picture of them surprised KJ, who looked to be sleeping, with his new gift on the Fernandina Fire Department’s Facebook page the next day.
Cops are called when a boy asks strangers to help him with yard work so he can save money for a new game console, and they give him a new PS5 (watch).
In the picture, his mother Joanna smiled on his behalf and stated that although KJ was still in shock, the injury had not caused any significant harm.
This serves as a reminder of the true purpose of the holidays. From our fire family to yours, happy Christmas and holidays.
